Discrete manufacturers — build-to-order and build-to-stock, contract manufacturers, and regulated shops (medical device, aerospace-adjacent precision, industrial equipment) running one plant or a small network. You've outgrown spreadsheets and QuickBooks but the tier-one ERP (SAP, Oracle, Epicor) is overbuilt and overpriced for your shape — and its quality module is an afterthought when quality is your product. The Manufacturing Yoke is an Enterprise app that sits on the free Inventory and Logistics core. Engineering, planning, the floor, quality, and costing all read one per-tenant database with an append-only event log — so a serial number traces from raw receipt through every operation to the shipped device, and the numbers the floor posts are the numbers your accountant closes on.

BOM & routings

Multi-level bills of materials with effective-revision control, and routings that define each operation, work center, and standard time. The build graph the whole plant plans and costs against.

Work orders & WIP

Release, issue, backflush, and complete on a live production board. WIP valuation moves with the work — material, labor, and overhead accumulate per order and settle on completion.

MRP planning

Low-level-code netting over demand, on-hand, and open orders. Planned make and buy orders with clear pegging — parents before children, so you order the right quantity once.

Procurement & AVL

Purchase orders, receiving, and an approved-vendor list per part. Buy signals flow straight from MRP; receipts post to inventory and to a draft AP bill in the Yoke Ledger.

Standard costing & variance

Rolled-up standard cost from the BOM and routing, with purchase-price and production variance surfaced per order. Costing posts to the same GL your month-end close runs against.

Lean / Six Sigma quality

SPC control charts, DMAIC projects with CAPA, DPMO and Pareto analysis, and OEE by shift and work center. Defects and out-of-control signals raise corrective-action loops in place.

Engineering change (ECO)

Controlled change orders against BOMs and routings with an effective-revision cutover. The floor always builds the released revision; the audit trail records who changed what, when, and why.

Serial / lot genealogy & DHR

Full forward-and-back traceability: every serial and lot links to the components consumed and the operations performed. The device-history-record view assembles it for audit or recall in one place.

BI Insight dashboards

Governed dashboards over the manufacturing data — plant health, quality, and planning views for the floor and for management — on the same semantic layer, no data export.

Extend without code

  1. How to extend with low-code

Every plant has its own routing wrinkle, inspection gate, or approval rule. Most of them don't require an engineer:

  • Custom quality gates (an hour). Use the FSM Designer to add a guard on the work-order completion transition — an order can't close until its inspection record passes, or until a required lot-test result is recorded. The schema captures the policy; no code change.
  • A shop-floor dashboard (an afternoon). Drop in list / detail / dashboard blocks from the marketplace, or a BI Insight view, to expose work-order status, WIP by work center, and today's scrap for one line — scoped automatically to the tenant.
  • Automated reorder and shortage alerts (an hour). A scheduled job runs the plan nightly and emails planners a CSV of parts below safety stock or short against released orders. Yoke Ledger's reporting framework handles the formatting.
  • Custom cost or yield logic (one day). The WASM scripting tier (TypeScript on QuickJS in wasmtime) lets you compute a scrap-adjusted yield or a landed-cost adder on the receiving or completion transition, without touching the platform.
  • Engineering-change approval routing (one day). Model your ECO review board as an FSM — draft, review, approved, released — with role-gated transitions and a full event-log trail, so the change history is audit-ready by construction.

When the low-code surface isn't enough — typically a machine-signal (OPC-UA / MTConnect) integration or a finite-capacity scheduler — you're in customization territory.

  1. How to make major customizations

In-house engineering

For manufacturers with an engineering bench, the typed SDK (@fastyoke/sdk-next, @fastyoke/sdk-vue, plus a Rust crate for the kernel) enables:

  • Machine-signal integrations — pull counts, cycle times, and downtime from PLCs or an OPC-UA / MTConnect gateway to drive OEE automatically instead of by hand.
  • MES-style operator terminals and scanner-device integrations beyond the default web-on-mobile console.
  • Finite-capacity or advanced scheduling on top of the infinite-capacity MRP plan, for plants that are constraint-bound at a bottleneck work center.
  • Custom marketplace apps (Cargo workspace crates) for process-specific shapes — cleanroom build records, electronics test-and-burn-in, or serialized calibration.
  • The ejection clause — take your compiled rules and per-tenant databases with you whenever you want.

FastYoke Partner engagement

For manufacturers that prefer a delivered-shape engagement:

  • Strategic Partner — iNetko handles BOM and routing authoring, quality-system and ECO workflow design, integration wiring (ERP or accounting feeds, supplier EDI, machine gateways), and the first 60-90 days of operator onboarding. Per-tenant consent + audit-trail enforcement make their access auditable by you, in your tenant.

Most plants engage iNetko for the first implementation phase. Once the platform is steady, the internal team takes over while iNetko stays on retainer for the harder integration work.

Honest tradeoffs

What FastYoke isn't for manufacturing

  • Not a full PLM. CAD-file management, part classification libraries, and multi-CAD BOM reconciliation live in a dedicated PLM. FastYoke owns the manufacturing BOM and its revisions, not the engineering vault.
  • No out-of-box machine telemetry. OEE and counts are entered or scripted today; live PLC / OPC-UA / MTConnect signal capture is SDK-built, not a shipped connector.
  • MRP is infinite-capacity. The planner nets material correctly but assumes work centers can absorb the load. Finite-capacity / bottleneck scheduling is an SDK extension, not shipped.
  • Single-currency costing. Standard costing and the Yoke Ledger ship single-currency. Multi-currency landed cost across international suppliers should wait for the Yoke Ledger v2 cycle or run alongside a separate ledger.
  • No native ERP / EDI connector. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, and supplier EDI feeds are SDK-built; we don't ship a marketplace connector for them. iNetko handles this in practice.

If any of those is the deal-breaker — stay on your tier-one ERP. It exists because the enterprise has those specific shapes. FastYoke is the right substrate when you want BOM-to-ledger with real quality and traceability at mid-market complexity, without six-figure annual licensing.
